SURGERY PROCESS AND HOSPITAL RECOVERY

After the preparatory process, the patient passes to the Surgery Process. This consists when the patient goes to the hospital by the Admission Dept., naturally this phase is coordinated by the Obesity Surgeons Relations Department Personnel. After the registration, the patient is conducted to the Preoperatory Room to be prepared. The surgery nurses take charge to prepare the patient before goes to the surgery Room. Dr. Olivares and the Anesthesiologist supervise the process to guarantee the best control of the process.

In the surgery room, the Anesthesiologist will realize the patient’s anesthesia process and the breathing and cardiovascular cares. Dr. Olivares and his specialists team, start the surgery which can vary depending on the technique process. Gastric Band surgery will take 1 or 2 hours of time, Gastric Sleeve usually requires 2 or 3 hours and By Pass will take about 4 or 5 hours in global time (from anesthesia and surgery until the recovery).

When the patient goes to recovery, will be approximately 2 hours until the patient wakes up and will maintain the vital functions without nursery help.

After that, the patient will pass to the room in the surgery floor to continue recovery. The time the patient will be in the hospital for Gastric Sleeve and By Pass is around 2 days, 1 day for Gastric Band.

Since the first moment, Dr. Olivares and his team maintain the patient’s stretch care, visiting several times during the day to detect any eventuality or to active the breathing expansion process and the patient’s alert state. The Gastric Band’s patient will start drinking liquids the same day in the afternoon or evening, and if everything is right, will leave the Hospital the next day.

During the second day the patient will start walking slowly and continue the recovery process. Will start the oral via after noon and will drink protein specially design for By pass and Gastric Sleeve, If is correct the drinking tolerance, the patient will leave the hospital next day and will go to the Hotel or home to continue recovery.
